Dr. Ranganathan

Dr. Ranganathan earned a PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His doctoral research was titled ‘Scale-Dependent Homogenization and Scaling Laws in Random Polycrystals‘ and was conducted under the supervision of Professor Martin Ostoja-Starzewski.

Upon completion of his PhD, Dr. Ranganathan joined the Texas Medical Center in Houston as a Postdoctoral Fellow under the supervision of Professor Mauro Ferrari. Dr. Ranganathan’s research was on the mathematical modeling of a novel BioNanoScaffolds for Post Traumatic OsteoRegeneration (fracture putty) and was sponsored by Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).

Dr. Ranganathan’s research interests are predominantly in the area of applied mechanics with applications to heterogeneous media (random composites, polycrystals), biomedical implants, additive manufacturing and data science. As an educator, he also interested in promoting and fostering excellence in engineering education.
